TELC: Certificate Management Without the Hassle

As one of the largest providers of German language courses in Germany, TELC issues around 1,500 certificates every day – previously printed, sorted, and mailed manually. Virtualbadge.io now automates the entire process: participant lists are uploaded, and the certificates are generated, signed, and sent electronically via email. This significantly reduces administrative work and frees up resources for course content and quality improvement.

Team, Location & Growth

Founded in 2020 by Malte Zander, Daniel Szymkowiak, Kenny Strobel, and Giovanna Pergher, Virtualbadge.io is headquartered in the Mafinex Technology Center in Mannheim and currently employs around 20 team members. The company is growing rapidly and aiming to expand its partnerships in the education sector.

Virtualbadge.io works with established education providers such as:

• Deutsche Weiterbildungsgesellschaft (DWG), part of the Klett Group

• SGD Studiengemeinschaft Darmstadt

• University of Mannheim and Mannheim Business School, currently digitizing around 30 types of documents

On the international stage, the British Computer Society uses the platform to issue 10,000 certificates annually. Despite these global applications, Virtualbadge.io’s main focus remains on the German market, where it is already a market leader and sees significant growth potential.
